Stefania Pittaluga

Dr. Pittaluga received her M.D. from the University of Sassari (Italy) and her Ph.D. in medical sciences from the Catholic University of Leuven, (Belgium). She completed her clinical training in anatomic pathology at the Hebrew University Hadassah Medical School in JerUnited Stateslem and at the National Cancer Institute (NCI), Bethesda MD. She also completed a fellowship in Hematopathology at the NCI. She has been a staff clinician in the Hematopathology Section since 1999 and Program Director of the Hematopathology fellowship program at the NIH/NCI since 2005. As program director, she is an active member of the Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC) and past Chair.

Dr. Pittaluga’s research interests are concerned with the molecular pathogenesis of lymphomas and characterization of primary immunodeficiency disorders.  Dr. Pittaluga has been recognized for research excellence by the NCI, NHLBI and NIAID.  She is a past member of the Scientific Committee on Hematopathology and Clinical Laboratory Hematology for the American Society of Hematology.
