Prof. Dr. Wong Kum Thong is trained in diagnositc anatomic pathology with a special interest in neuropathology and myology. As a senior consultant in anatomic pathology in the University of Malaya Medical Centre, he plays a vital role in ensuring that pathology lab services are professionally run with the highest levels of diagnostic accuracy to ensure that patients get the best health care available. He also gets private referrals from doctors who want a second opinion on biopsies.
As an active researcher in neuroscience and pathology with a special interest in infectious disease pathology and CNS viral infections, he has published in more than 145 peer-reviewed papers including papers in the New England Journal of Medicine, Lancet, American Journal of Pathology, Journal of Virology, Neuropathology and Experimental Neurology and Neuropathology and Applied Neurobiology, etc. To date, he has more than 3200 citations in ISI journals and has an ISI H-index of 28.
